Street Level / Fuck Off Wreckords Concert – Acklam Hall, Ladbroke Grove, London, W11 – 18/10/80

Entire Cosmos – Forever / Were All Going To The Vampire Feast / Looking For You / The Way You Love Makes Me Nervous – Blue Midnight – Trouble – The Astronauts – Nowhere Boogie / Everything Stops For Baby / Moderation Is Boring / We Were Talking / Survivors / Young Mans World – The Mob– What’s Going On / Never Understood / Witchhunt

Excellent quality cassette of this all day gig from the vaults of Stephen Gillit who runs the Streetlevel site, and who taped these tracks, at the time. Only snippets of the Blue Midnight and The Mob’s set (it all fitted on a C60). But full length Entire Cosmos and The Astronauts sets are featured here. Danny and The Dress Makers, 012 and possibly Andoids Of Mu also performed. The Astronauts set is incredible and must be heard. The Mob’s snippet seems slightly off the ball, possibly because ex Entire Cosmos drummer Josef had just started drumming for The Mob, learning to replace the drum machine that was Graham Fallows. The Mob’s choice of recreational drugs probably did not help either! Blue Midnight included in their ranks from time to time, the legend named as Mark Perry. Loads more Mob / Astronauts / Entire Cosmos / Blue Midnight on this site if you search.

I wondered if the sets of Blue Midnight and The Mob were truncated on here because Stephen was making complete tapes of their sets to be released later. And I’d imagine the Androids of Mu had enough of a following to justify a complete set recording of theirs to be released as well.

I’ve seen Grant Showbiz work wonders with an array of tape recorders and a bullet belt of C90 cassettes at the Fuck Off stage at Stonehenge, each band being recorded separately alongside the whole event being recording as a totality.

Good to hear Grant Showbiz announcing the acts and MC’ing on this tape.
