The Gatherers – Words Of My Mouth
The Upsetters – Words Of Mouth Version
This is a seperate post for any browsers to advertise any forthcoming events, gigs, parties or just any small meet ups in your local areas. Please make comments or adverts relevent to Kill Your Pet Puppy online browsers. Spearmint Rhino visits may not be quite what we are looking for…
While you write any comments you can chill out to a massively fine and very rare Duke Records 7″ single from 1973 produced by Lee Perry. The Gatherers with The Upsetters…Enjoy.
Please note that this post is also on the list of categories on the right hand side of the site (titled Categories) for ease of access in the future.

It should also be noted that formal dress only should be worn for any KYPP promoted meet ups.
Failure to dress to this strict code will mean expulsion of said party and a strict ten week program to re-learn how one should be presented in ‘polite society’. Hoo rah!

Hoping to have the picnic on Sat 20th Sept in Clissold Park. There’s meant to be a pay festy there that day:

Roots Manuva, Prince Buster, The Beat & Neneh Cherry are meant to be playing there over the weekend. I’ve got a feeling the festy may go tits-up but the idea is to be cheapskates in the park but outside the festy.
Other possible gigs to have meet-ups:
3 day Punk Fest- Reknaw presents FUK READING @ Unit 3c Mill Mead Industrial Estate N17 9QU.
Friday Aug 22nd: FUK + Active Minds + Pisschrist + Defcon Zero + Demonic Upchucks + Bug Central + Rabies Babies + the Extinguishers.
Saturday Aug 23rd: Police Bastard + Redeye Militia + Armed Response Unit + Dread Messiah + Constant State of Terror + the KADT + Burn Them Out + Self Inflicted.
Sunday Aug 24th: Left for Dead + Headjam + Mush + Gurkha + Flat Pig + Dicktion + Axis of Assholes + Moral Dilemma.
£7 a night, 6pm. Go on the Sat to see Graham, the dirty old clown (see other post somewhere) sing with Dread Messiah.
Rubella Ballet @ The Standard, Walthamstow Fri 5th Sept. Only seen this advertised here:
http://www.eroding.org.uk/diary.htm
Sid, if you read this let us know whether this is on or not. I know Sid’s drumming with X-Ray Spex the next night so you never know it could be a warm-up to that!
Finally, one for next year, Jeremy Gluck (old Puppy friend) at the Dirty Water club in Tufnell Park on Fri 30th Jan 2009.
August 20th, 2008 at 10:25 am
A few of us have a little dogging scene going down in the woods near to the airport (usually on a Friday and Sunday night)…
It’s quite intimate and everyone is very friendly, so please come!
August 20th, 2008 at 12:41 pm
I was doggingly determined to make a pun or two at that one, but you’ve got the lot there: going down, wood, come.
Still, with all the standing round the back of cars at least I know where all the boot boys have gone.
That’s it from me, I’m Slaughtered.
August 20th, 2008 at 11:47 pm
Nic, a rather low opinion of our loyal browsers there mate!
“Please make comments or adverts relevent to Kill Your Pet Puppy online browsers”
Did Stan Collymore go last time mate, isn’t he from round your way?
Email me privately on the next one though OK Nic, don’t let any one else know though esp that Stewart character… He scares me

Update on Sept 20th:
As suspected. the Freerange festy has been cancelled. Maybe we should go ahead with a picnic but if there’s no festy on, Clissold Park will be a bit crap. So suggestions for a change of venue are welcomed. Maybe Queen’s Wood in Highgate would be good as it’s near the tube & pretty nice.
August 26th, 2008 at 9:30 pm
that would be good, i’d do that.
August 26th, 2008 at 11:11 pm
Yeah count me in Luggy.
August 27th, 2008 at 9:07 am
sound good to me too
August 27th, 2008 at 11:46 am
O.K. let’s go for it!
Although Queen’s Wood is nicer, it will be easier to meet up in Highgate Wood over the road. See map:
http://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srf?x=528500&y=188500&z=1&sv=528500,188500&st=4&mapp=newmap.srf&searchp=newsearch.srf&ax=528500&ay=188500
Let’s say meet up on the sports ground there at 2p.m.
We can always wander over to Queen’s Wood later on if we fancy it. There is an entrance to the woods at the bottom of Muswell Hill Road. Just follow the path facing the gate uphill & around to the right & you’ll find the sports ground which is a rectangular clearing in the woods.
Let’s hope the sun comes out!
August 27th, 2008 at 11:18 pm
Can not remember…is there places to go (pubs etc), in case it lashes down?
August 28th, 2008 at 10:25 am
This would be the best bet:

Never been there myself but I know Shane McGowan frequents the place. Has a good jukebox:

August 29th, 2008 at 1:32 pm
Hi all – I wont be able to make this meet up, lovely as it all sounds (I’ll definitely be going to The Boogaloo at some other point to check out that jukebox) as I will be absorbed in the agony/ecstasy of a 10 day silent meditation retreat in deepest Herefordshire and therefore unavailable on every level.
August 30th, 2008 at 1:37 pm
Val, guess we should not phone you then eh?

September 1st, 2008 at 10:53 pm
Thought we should do something different for a change Stewey.
September 2nd, 2008 at 8:51 am
Ah, gents…
Just remember – there’s a warm welcome for you on the A45 layby just past Birmingham airport, come rain or shine…

September 14th, 2008 at 6:35 pm
Woof! Gives the dog the bone and all that…
September 19th, 2008 at 8:53 am
*BUMP*
Well, thankfully the weather’s looking good for the picnic in Highgate tomorrow so hopefully see a fair few of you there.
September 19th, 2008 at 5:16 pm
do we bring glue bags or cucumber sandwiches?
September 19th, 2008 at 5:34 pm
well then luggy, i got your text and email about the weekend and thought it sounded like a nice meet up, picnic in the woods suited me fine especially as I’ve got the kids this weekend. Good fucking job I looked at this shit first then. Are you fucking sure. Dogging?? what like Ha Ha dogging, its just a joke, cheer up love give us a smile, Dogging.
Like why the fuck would I want to be around those fucking creeps with my kids or any other way. Just drop me out , I’m not fucking interested. No sense of humor yeah??..whatever
September 19th, 2008 at 5:49 pm
Would like to put readers minds at rest and state that there will be no ‘dogging’ going on during the KYPP picnic tomorrow. Kids are more than welcome for this small gathering. My little boy will be there…
September 19th, 2008 at 7:01 pm
Simon, you can be the token gluesniffer if you really want although we might have to banish you to the woods!
Bring whatever sustenance or poisons you want, peeps. We will definitely be sprog-friendly, there’s a few people bringing their offspring along that I know of.
September 19th, 2008 at 8:28 pm
Have a good one!
September 21st, 2008 at 9:56 pm
Mark Astronaut (and The Astronauts) – Canterbury Arms, Brixton, Friday 26/09/08.
Support this event if you are in the area, go along and say hi to Mark…
September 21st, 2008 at 11:25 pm
Next Sunday, the 28th, Jah Wobble is playing the Coronet Theatre on New Kent Rd, Elephant & Castle. Free admission!
September 22nd, 2008 at 12:21 pm
Anyone going to the Astronauts gig?
September 22nd, 2008 at 5:47 pm
The reference to ‘dogging’ was, of course, a pun on the fact that there’s an – erm – dog at the top of this page… (*winks*). But you’re quite right, Tinsel, my sense of humour is easily misinterpreted. I must work on that.
September 22nd, 2008 at 6:12 pm
Can’t you let sleeping dogs lie?
September 22nd, 2008 at 6:15 pm
Yeah about the post up top, how come no body came in evening wear / tuxedo / ball gowns as mentioned above?
Guys and girls you could of made the effort, my one was in the wash or the dog ate it, something like that – what were your excuses eh?
September 22nd, 2008 at 8:15 pm
My tux shrunk in the wash. There is more commentary about the picnic in the ‘Various – New Criminals Vol 2 1981′ thread.
Where else?
There’s also pics in the photo gallery. look for KYPP summer picnic.
September 23rd, 2008 at 8:55 am
Gonna try to drag myself along to the Jah Wobble gig.
September 23rd, 2008 at 2:13 pm
Looked like a good time was had by all chaps, and I had a look at the pictures and was pleased to see a bottle of cider in evidence in accordance with anarcho punk rule book , section 47.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:10 pm
Well it’s not jah wobble or the astronauts, but I’m playing at the Whitechapel Art Gallery Friday 7 November. I used to play bass in Flowers in the Dustbin now it’s a bit more mellow – two guitars and vocals – and much less regular, about once a year. Onstage about 8.30, in the bar from 7 -late, if any old faces want to come and say hello that’d be nice. You can get tickets from whitechapel.org/music.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:55 pm
Calendar dude (I think I’ve caught Garyisms!!), put the Jowe Head gig on Fri week up.
September 24th, 2008 at 9:32 pm
Hey Chas, are you all set for drums or do need me to supply a kit?
September 24th, 2008 at 10:42 pm

Theee Bat sound entertaining, Japanese trio with a penchant for wearing fake U. K. police helmets on stage.`
September 29th, 2008 at 3:11 pm
Theee Bat are a doss: garage slop accessorised with capes and copper helmets (replete with Iron Cross in one case for extra daft points – as they say “It’s IRONY!! No mean!”)…
I’m doing a live vocal improvisation at the Hayward Gallery (on the South Bank) on October 9 as part of the launch of a book on the use of the voice in art which I contributed an essay to, but I think it’s an ‘Invite Only’ job…
September 29th, 2008 at 7:20 pm
jah wobble was funkin’ smashing. there were only 200 – 300 people there. where were you?
September 29th, 2008 at 7:59 pm
I was enjoying the sun in Dorset, glad you had a good one. I’d have felt a bit guilty if he was shit as I suggested it. Poor turn-out, I wonder how many turn up to see him when you have to pay.
September 29th, 2008 at 8:45 pm
Coincidently I was also in Dorset from Friday morning Luggy, just got back now, so may lob something up in a bit.
September 29th, 2008 at 11:30 pm
Sorry to have missed the party in Queens Wood – co-incidentally I was in Queens Wood the next day though as part of the permaculture Course we were running http://www.flickr.com/photos/naturewise/sets/72157607552711339/- It wasn’t one of the KYPP posse who wrote ‘Free Tibet Now’ in chalk on the path through the woods was it? I hear the Chinese govt are definately reconsidering their position on the strength of this, so well done whoever it was…
So whens the next meet up? Will anybody be going to the Housmans Xmas party this year?? Indeed wasn’t their some kind of plan for a KYPP/Chris Low/New Crimes reunion ‘do’ or something in Housmans? I’m sure Malcolm would be up for it….

Slyme, you can reminisce about Ashwin St at this one!
October 24th, 2008 at 6:42 pm
Bookfair?
I was represented by the younger generation, the wonderful Beatrice Gay ( daughter of Angie Gay anarcho feminist/ex monday Group member/resident of Duncan Terrace) who is on the way to be a filmaker.
Enough of all this anarcho palava.
“Hi all – I wont be able to make this meet up, lovely as it all sounds (I’ll definitely be going to The Boogaloo at some other point to check out that jukebox) as I will be absorbed in the agony/ecstasy of a 10 day silent meditation retreat in deepest Herefordshire and therefore unavailable on every level.”
How was it Val?
You doin’ it regularly now?
I’ve gotta do another one, if me back holds up.
Anicha, Anatha. Dukha.
October 24th, 2008 at 7:03 pm
Yeah, sorry Val that i haven’t got back to you to tell you about transcendental meditation and yogic flying, i will do soon.
Have a blissful retreat Jake… I’ve just booked in for one !
Luggy> I might see you the OTO cafe. Sounds good!
October 24th, 2008 at 7:07 pm
Oh yeah, the bookfair was packed! Although i haven’t been for years, I’ve never known it to be so busy!
October 24th, 2008 at 8:06 pm
luggy – if you can remember Ashwin St. you weren’t there…
October 24th, 2008 at 9:32 pm
It was actually Tony D who gave me a ‘Buddhist Punk’ badge way back when.
How prophetic was that?
You gonna do a Vipassana Phil?
Where and when?
I learned it at Hereford, the same place as Val goes to.
Actually we met there a few years ago.
Incredible coincidence. We didnt know who we were till later, if you see what I mean.
I haven’t practiced for years but have ’sat’ 6 courses, some there & some in Asia and ‘worked’ 4.
So, I’m not quite a novice but not realy experienced in the technique either.
I’ve had back problems that have meant ’sitting’ has been virtualy impossible. Or at least that’s been my excuse.
If you’re gonna do one it may not be blissful, exactly. They can be tough going.
But just decide in your mind that whatever happens you will complete the full course.
For an old punkist/autonomista like me it was hard the first time.
I cursed them all to hell each evening but gave it another day. And thus completed the full ten. I regreted it not one single bit. And that set the tone for the following decade.
Its, as i’ve said to my nieces, tokers at 14, ‘E’ in at 15, better, deeper, fuller and more centering than any drug and possably the single strongest experience I have had.
I’ve outed meself now, but I imagine I’ll get stick for it on a site like this!
How can I pose as the angry old man now?
Go for it, mate.
October 25th, 2008 at 8:29 am
No actually Jake, im going on a Transcendental Meditation/yogic flying re-treat. It comes from the non dual Advaita Vedanta tradition and not from buddhism. It is completely effortless and is not a form of contemplation or concentration but a way for the mind to settle down to its most silent but alert state which is often very bissful.
Guess ive outed myself too !
October 25th, 2008 at 8:31 am
Ashwin St? was that a Squat or something?
October 25th, 2008 at 9:39 am
Vedanta, its good stuff. Much’hindu’ practice is, well, gumph, but vedanta seems solid. Read ‘Swami Dayanda’,took the base ideas of alienation present in Situationist theory one step further methinks.
I think ‘Buddhism’ is from the non dualistic tradition as well?
Om Tat Sat.!
October 25th, 2008 at 10:01 am
Yes , in fact the traditions seems very close, and i struggle to understand the real difference in the two..(Maybe cos i havnt really studied buddhism) .. But thats all mind stuff anyway, which is something we want to go beyond- and not get too bogged down in. Lol!
I often walk past campbell buildings to go and meditate at the Tibetan peace garden.
October 25th, 2008 at 11:42 am
Phil, it was a terrace of 4 (I think) houses squatted in the mid-eighties, still empty but gutted now. I’ll tell Kel about the John Sinclair night, he’s well into all that 1968 stuff, hopefully he’ll come along. Anyone seen the MC5 documentary, “A True Testimonial”, it’s pretty interesting stuff. Never been officially released but available on torrent sites.
October 25th, 2008 at 11:57 pm
phil, tell them about the rat and the lawyer
October 26th, 2008 at 8:20 am
Luggy its all coming back now…I used to live there!
October 26th, 2008 at 12:53 pm
Ha! Ha! I thought you were around at that time, what about the rat & the lawyer then?
October 27th, 2008 at 9:46 am
The (or a very similar) story about the lawyer and the rat is in KYPP 4/ Gay Punx page.
http://s208.photobucket.com/albums/bb227/killyourpetpuppy/KYPP%20issue%204/?action=view¤t=page17.jpg
It is hard to read – it is the last part of story, follows one about Cory’s naturally pink ‘pubes on the tube’ flash… but here it is:
Straight lawyer visits us to get details of latest police harrassment. He sits in Reginald’s arm chair. Suddenly lawyer jumps to his feet as Reginald the pet green rat emerges from the arm of the chair and runs across his lap…
October 28th, 2008 at 7:30 pm
Well, this was hippy Mandys pet rat which had a fondness for simons used condoms (prob the protein) and used to run around with them in his mouth! And like Cory’s rat ends up on the lawyers lap proudly holding the condom in his gob!
October 29th, 2008 at 10:10 pm

March 13th, 2009 at 11:30 am
Actually, I went to see PTV 3 at, I think, the kentish Town Forum a year or so ago. they were pretty dire to be honest and that last LP they did was woeful. That said, i’ll probably end up going along to this gig anyway just to see old faces.
March 13th, 2009 at 11:44 am
Think it was around 1988 was the last I saw a performance from the Gen-meister. Cor blimey 21 years ago. Don’t time fly?
March 13th, 2009 at 11:55 am
Saw them in Glasgow around then too, ‘Godstar’ had maybe been out for a year. It was a good gig!
March 13th, 2009 at 1:21 pm
They played Glasgow Nightmoves/Rooftops in 86, some of which was released as the live in Glasgow LP. They played Godstar that night but it hadn’t been released yet. Next time they played Glasgow was 88 at Mayfair in Sauchiehall St, Gen spent a fair bit of time in the audience, and IIRC, the audience spent a fair bit of time onstage. Both good gigs.

I can highly recommend TV Smith/The Fallen Leaves on March 21st at the Parliamentt Club, just off the Portobello Rd:
http://music.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=music.showDetails&Band_Show_ID=38525638&friendid=44605025
The Fallen Leaves run the Parliament Club and feature Rob Simmons of the original Subway Sect and they’re absolutely fantastic.
Check out High and Dry here:

Their LP is great too:

DJ BENETTI
Faction is proud to welcome as special guest on Friday April 10th, Bank Holiday Weekend – The capo dei capi of Italo Disco – DJ Benetti.
The sound of Italo, characterized by Giorgio Moroder-esque space synths, New Wave electronic drums and irresistibly infectious melodies has received an overdue renaissance in recent years, injecting some welcome Dolce Vita back into the club scene.
Having made his DJ debut at a Mafia-controlled pizza restaurant in 1980, Benetti is now renowned as one of the unsung pioneers of the Italo sound. Most recently dropping his disco diamonds an the Bloc Weekender he has played at Cocadisco a record 6 times in addition to his residency at italoBLACK in Edinburgh and the monthly Disco Caligula parties. Delivering magical musical odysseys that have enchanted both Italo initiates and hardcore cognoscenti every time.
“I’m always look forward to playing,” Benetti tells us from his villa near San Marino, famed for the wine cellar converted to accommodate his enormous record collection. “I’ve recently unearthed many great ’80s rarities from Rimini’s deepest vaults more precious than the very Turin Shroud.”
Something we at Faction are sure will prove beyond doubt that, as the young Signora Ciccone’s T-Shirt read; “Italians Do It Better”.

CHRIS LOW
Chris Low took to the turntables during the halcyon days of Acid House. His CV includes the legendary Edinburgh clubs Soma, Sex Beat, Skidoo and XS, DJing at Kraftwerk and Nitzer Ebb after-shows and most recently a triumphant six hour set at his Throbbing Disco night in Tokyo. Chris has played on US radio station 91.5 WPRK alongside DJ Pierre, DJ Sneak and Felix Da Housecat amongst others; can boast vinyl releases on Pro-Jex, Victoria Music, SW20 Records and can always be relied on to get the dancefloor jumping with an genre-defying blend of house, electro, italo, and nu-beat classics. Always with a few surprises thrown into the mix.
JASON FACTION
Following the successful Faction trip to New York, where they played a number of slots across Brooklyn and Manhattan culminating in an illustrious Faction party in Williamsburg, Faction resident, Jason will be tearing up the dance floor with a selection of cuts from the full sound spectrum of Faction nights from the start of the club till the present.

Unfortunately Friday April 10th Bank Holiday special will be the last ever Faction. I can only thank everyone who ever came along, all the DJs and acts who played and all those who made it as enjoyable a venture as it was. But stay tuned for details of the new club night, it’s going to be MASSIVE!!!
Once again thanks to all those who have supported Faction over the past year and a half and I’ll be giving away another FREE CD featuring a selection of the songs that have made the club to the first 50 people who come along on April 10th. (Jason Faction)

have you got any mixes or mp3s of your tunes Chris? would be good to hear…
March 31st, 2009 at 5:40 pm
All the mix tapes i did up and recordings of radio broadcasts etc are on cassette tapes so really need to get them converted. but there is a mix i did in 1989 up in the ‘post 86′ section of this site which is pretty mad!
let me know if you fancy coming along on the 10th and i’ll stick you on the guesty. Same for any other KYPPers who are up for it – though obviously ex-Apostles drummers get VIP treatment
April 1st, 2009 at 11:03 am
VIP treatment sounds great but my current night time action centres around feeding my lovely little three month old boy…maybe next year eh….

Re: Picnic.
Many apologies that I cant make it.
Kay – me better half – family down (they cant be persueded..) & wanna spend a bit of time with our nephew.
Yep the one who’s just got a guitar..
Would have been a realy nice seeing folk after so long and meeting all the other KYPPers. Shame that things clash, as is often the case.
It has been a real blast this punk re-united stuff, the best bit hearing that peeps are ok. I know some of us didn’t make it but it still astonishes me that anyone did.
So have a brilliant time, hope the May sun shines on Clapton and that its a real scortcher.
Big hugs to all.
Jake
Couldn’t post this – or the witty and cutting remarks about 9 signed copies of Bobs book (y’know some kind of appropiately jealous failed author thing!) on the ‘picnic’ facebook page no RSVP – wasn’t on FB when the invites went out – so access denied. Maybe someone can paste it on the above for me?
Cheers
Again, have a brilliant one…

Question : Do to your obvious knowledge in the True 80’s Punk scene i was hoping you could help me out .. Sorry if this takes abit to explain..
Many years back i heard a Punk band that Totally kicked Ass !! Thier sound was in the Conflict or Crass vein … I believed them to be a British band .. One of thier songs was a poem about war .. some of the lyrics were.. ((Blaming Shaming and Naming )) He went on to say (( I myself am Thoroughly ashamed .. I never wanted to kill , and i certainly didnt want to die.. please forgive , my name carved in stone is all that remains .. remember me , Always )) Another song went (( So tell me are you with me or am I on my own.. If your with me than I’m with you and we are not alone.. Theres many people like us, Just Like you and Me , Lets skin the bastards one by one and we can still be free )) The chorus was AC- AB.. AC-AB.. AC- AB All Cops are Bastards yeah !! )) I’ve googled the lyrics and searched endlessly only to turn up ACAB By the 4-Skins and ACAB By the Oppressed.. i was hoping that if anyone could help it would be you .. Thanks for your time and again i appologize about length of this message.. Thanks , DamonDamaged..
March 17th, 2010 at 4:42 am
i think i may have posted my question in the wrong spot.. Sorry..
March 17th, 2010 at 10:00 pm
There was a single called ACAB by a late 1970s punk band called The Rowdies, If I remember correctly. Can’t remember the lyrics tho. Sorry can’t be more help.
March 22nd, 2010 at 12:20 am
Hi Damon, I think you’re after the ‘Systems Kill’ EP by the Xpozez – the ‘AC-AB’ chant sounds like “New Law”. But I could be way off the mark.

April 5th, 2010 at 10:24 am
Message from Mitch ex Flack / Hagar The Womb / Mekons:
Hello peeps. You may wonder why I’m a bitter & twisted old fruit. The reason is pretty simple. The only thing that doesn’t disappoint me, is disappointment itself!
Let me illustrate. Today I woke up. The sun was shining. Joy was in my heart, as I realised that, today was that wonderful religious festival known as ‘Jour de Chocolate’.
So I put on my home made bonnet, grabbed a wicker basket, & skipped merrily into the garden. I’ve been a good Reverend Bastard this year (Mainly because Santa Clause didn’t give me the personal tactical nuke I had on my Xmas wish list), so I knew the Easter Bunny would have been busy in my garden. I looked under the deadly nightshade. There was a dead squirrel there. I looked under the stinging nettles. The rotting remains of the pigeon I shot last week. I looked under the the manzanilla tree. Cat shit! (The reason I cultivate such interesting flora, is because the neighborhood children keep kicking their footballs into my garden)! I even thought of looking in the pond, but remembered, just in time, I’d forgotten to feed the pirhanas for a while.
So I had to resign myself to the fact that today was just another disappointing day.
But enough about my travails, back to the reason I am doing this mass communication.
Mr Ted Milton has personally requested that we, Symposium IV, support his amazing Jazz Punk combo, Blurt, at the Bull & Gate on Sunday 18th April. We will be on stage at 20.30ish. It costs £5 with a flyer, £6 without. So save up your easter eggs, & give them all to me that evening.
April 5th, 2010 at 12:58 pm
And there was me thinking you had a disappointing day because Man U got beaten!!
Mick Slaughter
April 5th, 2010 at 3:18 pm

Can’t remember if I told you but you may be interested (or horrified) to know I unearthed a few old Flack tapes recently which I shall passing to Penguin for upload soon as i’m back dahn the Smoke. Hope you’re well and will try to make it along to the Bull & Gate gig.

This should be good – Hoxton from 12/08 to 21/08:
http://www.theplayground.co.uk/art/home.php?aID=273
Gaye Advert curating over a whole heap of artwork by:
Adam Ant / Charlie Harper / Dee Generate / Gee Vaucher / Jamie Reid / Knox / Poly Styrene / Shanne Bradley / Steve Ignorant and Youth amongst others.
August 5th, 2010 at 4:39 pm
If I was in London I would definitely go to this, Jamie Reid is probably the most overlooked figure in punk history, but his artwork, especially the “God Save the Queen” stuff was massively influential. To be honest, looking back it’s hard to even fathom why everyone was so shocked by the Bill Grundy interview or the safety pin in the Queen’s nose picture, but without Jamie maybe the Pistols would have been just another band and punk rock could have been just as influential as the blitz kids.
August 5th, 2010 at 5:24 pm
Looking forward to going to the exhibition on the 21st August with Tony Puppy. The Jamie Reid work is what I am looking forward to witnessing along with hopefully unseen (by me at least) Gee Vaucher work. Shame you are so far away John…Perhaps the exhibition may travel around and get to L.A at some point.
