Brigandage – The Peel Session – 1983

Fragile / Heresy / Hope / Let It Rot

No apologies for uploading more Brigandage material straight after the previous post…My tape of this session disappeared sometime between 1983 and now. My guess is that the C90 was half inched by persons unknown around the late 1980’s.

I was gutted when I found that this tape was missing, after I started to upload relevant material onto the KYPP site,  looking through boxes of tapes for the first time in 20 something years, as this particular session is shit hot.

I would have uploaded this session way back in the early days of this site being made public if it was not for the discovered loss… So could not wait to upload it once Sir Nuzz A Lot ex of Ye Olde Bowes Lyon House in the hamlet of Stevenage sent it to me electronically in crisp digital form after he read of the vile theft in the previous post. He has become my knight in shining armour!

Thanks to him for sending the recordings back home to me where they belong.

One of the better Peel sessions in my opinion, ‘Hope’ and ‘Let It Rot’ are the standouts, but dragging not so far behind are the other tracks ‘Fragile’ and ‘Heresy’.

Glorious stuff by a fine band, play bastard loud!

it wasn’t the P.S.V/Russell/Factory club,as Richard said it was some kind of Labour/union club…and the Factory style support band was Lavolta Lakota…great rot ‘n’ roll from Brigandage that night, cheers!

hey there – just landed here. I played guitar in unrest and the last year or so of mongs when bone just sang. its really good to hear you all appreciated our vibes.i’m particularly interested in getting hold of any recordings any of you have out there, and especially anyone who had a camera – we know we were filmed occasionally but i only recently uncovered a partial recording from PlanetX, to which I have the sound desk recording (any one interested in it?). I have several other CDs too of sets etc from unrest and mong. also bone’s last album which includes a bullshit reworking. I’ve just been chatting with Fatty who’s in spain translating unrest songs into spanish. he’s playin out there, I’m playin around here still, everyone’s about, except bone no longer inhabits the cells he used to, he left them a while back. Anyone want to swap recordings etc mail me – marcmcdermott (at) hotmail dot com. ITS A CONSUMER SOCIETY – IT’S THE END OF THE WORLD!.

it was the old labour club in Hulme which was squatted for a while, undeleteds also right about the twisted wheel,it had a lot of silver decor inside, dont think any other bands played there apart from blythe power, was the only band i saw in there anyway so could be wrong.its still there i think but dont know what name it goes under nowadays.hulme is currently undergoing social cleansing .cant have people who dont work living there now can we Mr Cameron?
