Recorded during the ‘White Riot’ tour, with support on the night by Buzzcocks, Subway Sect and The Slits. This BBC radio broadcast gig, although very old on my cassette is in pretty decent shape. Very good quality material from one of my favorite bands…You all know the history of The Clash so I will not bore you…What a band!

What a band indeed – I only managed to see them on one occasion – St George’s Hall, Bradford, 1980 – they had Mikey Dread and Violation supporting. A clear memory of that evening – Mikey bounding up to the front of the stage and being greeted by a hail of spit – unfortunately that disgusting habit still had legs in the provinces – poor old Mikey, mid way through his second number he’d taken up a position of safety behind the drum riser – that is until the Clash came skanking onto the stage in single file – cool as fuck, all wearing Crombies and Fedoras they led Mikey back to the front of the stage and defied the audience to gob on them – needless to say, the spitting stopped. By the way, Violation were superb that night – they morphed into Southern Death Cult not long after and continued being excellent.
